Second arrest follows Myrtle Beach shooting death

Myrtle Beach Police officers on Sunday arrested a second suspect in connection with Thursday's shooting death of a 21-year-old man.

Michael Quantrell Barr, 20, is charged with accessory after the fact to a felony. He was arrested at 1:25 a.m. Sunday on Mustang Street in Myrtle Beach, police records show.

According to a warrant, Barr gave police a false statement about Kendrix Corbitt's whereabouts when 21-year-old Damian Pickett was shot and killed. Barr also said Corbitt later asked him to hide a gun, the warrant indicates.

Bail was set at $10,000 for Barr during a Sunday morning hearing in Myrtle Beach Municipal Court.

Corbitt, 18, is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent act in connection with Thursday night's shooting.

A judge set bail at $10,000 on the gun possession charge Sunday. Bail on the murder charge will be set at a later date by a judge in Horry County circuit court.

Barr and Corbitt were taken to J. Reuben Long Detention Center in Conway on Sunday morning, officials said.

Barr was sentenced to one year in jail last summer after pleading guilty to a charge of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, according to Horry County records. The judge in the case sentenced Barr to 110 days in jail and he was released Aug. 12.

The fatal shooting was reported about 11 p.m. Thursday on Futrell Drive. Officers found Pickett's body shortly after midnight.

Pickett was shot "at least once," Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler said Friday. He would not say where Pickett was shot and did not provide any other details.

Police seeking Little River man after fatal shooting

Horry County police are looking for a 24-year-old Little River man after a weekend fatal shooting in Longs, according to a news release from Sgt. Robert Kegler.

William Dearck Landy Jr. is about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, weighs about 170 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.

Detectives believe he is operating a black 2004 Chevrolet Impala SS with a state tag of GQI 249.

Landy is considered armed and dangerous, Kegler said.

Horry County police say an arrest warrant has been issued charging Landy with murder. Police responded about 7 p.m. Sunday to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center after a man with a gunshot wound to the upper body sought help, Kegler said.

The victim was brought to the hospital after being shot on Pint Circle in the Longs section of Horry County, according to Kegler.

Lakeem Omar Bellamy, 18, of Chestnut Run Road, died at 1:15 a.m. Monday, Horry County Coroner Robert Edge, Jr. said.

Police seek public's help after fatal shooting in Myrtle Beach area

Horry County police are seeking information from the public about a weekend shooting that left one man dead, according to a news release from Sgt. Robert Kegler.

The body of Joseph Sourdiff, 48, was found at his home by his son, Shahin Darius Sourdiff, on Saturday morning.

Police said Joseph Sourdiff died from multiple gunshot wounds at his home on Teague Road, in the Harbour Towne community by the Intracoastal Waterway.

Kegler said Monday that police are still investigating whether the son is a suspect in his father's death.

Shahin Sourdiff was arrested Saturday, but not in connection with the shooting. He was charged with first-offense manufacturing marijuana, according to jail records.

The 20-year-old was taken to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Saturday and released Monday on a $30,000 bail, jail records show.

Horry County's Lt. Raul Denis said evidence at the scene showed the shooting took place at the home.

Police, who responded around noon Saturday to the home, believe Sourdiff was killed about 24 hours before his body was found, Kegler said.

Shahin Sourdiff told police he found his father dead when he arrived at the house about 11 a.m. Saturday. According to police records, the younger Sourdiff doesn't live at his dad's home.

Detectives are asking that anyone who lives or was in the area of Teague Road between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday and may have seen anything suspicious to contact police at 915-5350 or 915-TIPS.

Detectives also are hoping to identify the driver and/or occupants of a blue sport utility vehicle and a white box van with blue markings, both of which were seen driving down Teague Road during that time period.

Slain man's son jailed after Myrtle Beach shooting

The young man who found his father dead Saturday morning in Myrtle Beach was arrested, but not in connection with the shooting.

Shahin Darius Sourdiff, 20, was charged with trafficking marijuana, said Horry County Police Lt. Kevin Duke.

Though an autopsy was completed Sunday on the body of Joseph Sourdiff, 48, Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler said he had no preliminary results to release.

"I can tell you that he had at least one gunshot wound," Fowler said.

The elder Sourdiff was shot early Saturday morning at his home on Teague Road, off Harbour Towne Drive in Myrtle Beach, according to Horry County police.

Shahin Sourdiff found his father dead when he arrived at the house about 11 a.m. Saturday morning. According to police records, the younger Sourdiff does not share an address with his father.

Shahin Sourdiff was taken to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Saturday evening.

Duke said he did not anticipate any other information being released about the case until today.

Investigators said it appeared the elder Sourdiff died early Saturday.

Lt. Raul Denis said evidence showed the shooting took place at the home.

Fowler said it can take several weeks for toxicology results to come back after an autopsy, but the preliminary cause of death could be released before those tests are completed.

Free of charge filed in Murrells Inlet fatal shooting

No charges will be filed against a 76 year old Murrells Inlet man who killed his son-in-law week last in a quiet golf community.

Police, said Monday that Sean Johnson, 48 years old, arrived at the House of his mother on Court Winged Foot Indigo Creek Golf Club community about 3 p.m. Thursday.

Johnson soon pulled a gun on 72-year-old mother and that the woman is fled to the bathroom, father-in-law of Johnson grabbed a gun to protect himself and his wife, Sergeant Robert Kegler Horry County Police said.

Johnson later weapons punched his father-in-law, who fatally wounded, said Kegler.

Horry County records indicate the House, located approximately 75 metres from the 16th green of the golf course, are owned by Eric and Pat Trenck.

Kegler said investigators spoke with attorneys with the fifteenth judicial circuit and ruled the filming of a justifiable homicide.

Horry County Coroner Robert Edge said Monday that there is no sign of a "physical confrontation" on the body of the victim during an autopsy, last week.

Said edge Toxicology screen has been made, but the results should not for about six weeks.

After the shooting, officials confirmed the same man who held members of the Sheriff of Georgetown County at Bay for nine hours in August after that his girlfriend Johnson reported a handgun in him.

Girlfriend of Johnson and the Trencks refused to comment on Monday.

Police said that Thursday, Johnson struck at the door when he arrived at the House of his mother, but without being prompted.

He was "very agitated" to his mother, call 911 incident of domestic violence in August, according to a report of an incident.

Police threatened to kill his mother, his father-in-law and himself while in the House, said Johnson.

He started ransacking the House by launching documents and later sheared his glasses, break.

Mother Johnson locked herself in the bathroom and Johnson Hall started to knock on the door, according to the report.

The father-in-law grabbed a firearm in a table in the living room and then approached Johnson weapon behind his back.

He said police Johnson said "stay out of this or I will get you" everything by telling her mother "you ruined my life."

The father-in-law said agents that he fired his weapon to Johnson when Johnson was a weapon on him.
