Chattanooga wins Lady Paladin Intercollegiate

Chattanooga won the Lady Paladin Intercollegiate on Sunday, capturing its first title of the season.

The Mocs, No. 39 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, put up a 51-over 915 at the Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C., which included a final-round 14-over 302 that helped distance them from the field. Chattanooga also claimed three players inside the top 15.

“It’s a great way to cap off the fall,” said head coach Colette Murray. “We came here knowing we could win it and that’s just what we did. We’ll work on a few things over the winter months and be ready to build on this in the spring."

Georgia State, No. 61, finished second at 65-over 929 while Division II defending national champion Nova Southeastern was third another four shots back. The Sharks won this event last year.

Nova’s Sandra Changkija claimed individual medalist honors after beating Georgia State’s Charlotte Lorentzen in a playoff. Both finished at 7-over 223. East Tennessee’s Sian Evans was third while Chattanooga’s Emma de Groot finished fourth.
