Eckstein (No. 24, 2011) commits to Davidson

Todd Eckstein, No. 224 in the Class of 2011, has given a verbal commitment to play college golf at Davidson.

Eckstein, who is a senior at Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill in Durham, N.C., finished second at the North Carolina AA State Championship. He is the 24th-ranked player in North Carolina.

“Davidson has a long-standing tradition of having excellent academic and athletic programs,” Eckstein said. “Coach Straub is?an intelligent coach whose playing experience?will?help me?further improve my?game. The guys on the team are great people as well as solid players and I look forward to playing with them starting next fall.”

Before committing, Eckstein made unofficial visits to UNC-Chapel Hill, Notre Dame, Elon, Furman and Mercer, receiving offers from Elon, Mercer, and VCU.
