A pedestrian struck by vehicle in a street in the Tempe Friday night has died, police said.
The victim, Johnny Aguirre, was hit by a 2010 Toyota Corolla while walking towards the North University Drive and price, said Tempe on Sergeant Steve Carbajal police department spokesman.
Aguirre, 73, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he died at approximately 10: 45 am
It emerged that Aguirre was under the influence of alcohol during the collision, said Carbajal.Le driver, a man, was not altered, he said.
Pathways to University and the road from the River Parkway East have been closed and routes to the West were restricted to the investigation.
