Neill Harner, Gaston to receive NGCA honor

Stephanie Neill Harner and Andrea Gaston will be inducted into the National Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame on Dec. 7 for their contributions to college golf.

Neill Harner, the player inductee, is the most honored female athlete in the history of Wake Forest, winning three NCAA team titles and four All-American awards. Neill Harner was the top-ranked women’s amateur in the U.S. during the 1994-95 season after claiming titles at the North & South Amateur and both the Eastern and Western Amateurs, all of which she won within a one-month period.

Gaston, who will be the coach inductee, is in her 15th year at the helm of the USC women’s program. Gaston has led two NCAA Championship teams, three individual NCAA champions and three NGCA Players of the Year.

In addition to her coaching career, Gaston is an accomplished player, winning the California State Amateur title in 1993 and 1994, as well as qualifying for the 1977 U.S. Women’s Open. Gaston also serves on the NGCA Awards Committee and has served on the NCAA Certification Committee.
