Paolucci, Rodgers to face off at Polo

The top-seeded player on the girls’ side of the match-play bracket was eliminated Wednesday at the Polo Golf Junior Classic as the boys’ side saw the beginnings of a Rolex All-American showdown.

Moriya Jutanugarn, who earned medalist honors Tuesday at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., lost in the second round of match play to Jessica Vasilic. Vasilic, of Anaheim Hills, Calif., beat Alison Lee in the first round before taking down Jutanugarn, 5 and 4.

Yueer Cindy Feng and Rolex Player of the year Kristen Park also lost in the rist round of match play, while U.S. Girls’ Junior champion Doris Chen advanced to the quarterfinals.

On the boys’ side, top-seeded Emiliano Grillo advanced through two matches, beating Trey Valentine of Melbourne, Fla., and Beau Titsworth, of Avon, Ohio. Defending champion Oliver Schniederjans also advanced to the quarterfinals.

Heading into Thursday’s quarterfinal matches, Rolex Player of the Year Anthony Paolucci and Western Junior champion Patrick Rodgers will square off in the final match-up of the third round.
