Annika Sorenstam announces second pregnancy

Annika Sorenstam with her baby girl Ava during the final round of the Annika Invitational at Reunion Resort in Reunion, Florida.

Those who were holding out hope that Annika Sorenstam was secretly practicing for a grand comeback can put that theory to rest: She’s pregnant again.

Sorenstam announced the exciting news on her Twitter account Dec. 14.

“Mike and I are happy to share that our family will be a foursome by early summer,” Sorenstam wrote. “Ava is ready to be a big sister.”

The U.S. Women’s Open returns to the Broadmoor next year and Sorenstam will serve as honorary chair. She’s slated to be on site tournament week July 4-10 hosting an exhibition and dinner. Sorenstam’s iconic professional career got its start at the Broadmoor in 1995, when she won her first LPGA event.

Soernstam, 40, and husband Mike McGee welcomed their first child, Ava Madelyn, into the world Sept. 1, 2009. The couple lives in Lake Nona.
