MYRTLE BEACH - Myrtle Beach high variants are in the middle of another successful football season hoping to reach the AAA state championship of the game for the third consecutive year class and claim their second title in three years.
For many of these same players, the second State school in the past four seasons boys basketball championship hopes have been squelched before the season started.
According to l.c. High School League Commissioner Jerome Singleton, variants have been banned in 2010-2011 high school boys basketball playoffs because of an illegal practice.
Singleton, "they will not be allowed to participate in the Playoffs play this year," said Thursday. "There was a violation and sanctions are imposed.
Myrtle Beach top main Nona Kerr or athletic director Doug Terry would comment sanctions specific Thursday, saying they wanted first to meet players and their parents a meeting scheduled at 6 a.m. Monday.

Kerr said boys sophomore basketball head coach Craig Martin is not be suspended, no staff member is suspended and its staff remains intact. Martin could not be reached for comment jeudi.Kerr also stated that no players were suspended.
