Lake Mead sinks to new low history

Lake Mead sank at the level the more low in more than 75 years Sunday, an absolute reminder of how drought and increasing demand for water undermined the Colorado River and its enormous reservoirs.

Not because it was first of all fill in 1937 Lake Mead is so little water reservoir .Niveau fell to low history shortly before noon on Sunday, eclipsing the previous record since the 1950s hit by drought.

The Lake is now only 8 feet above the level that triggers the first, drought restrictions reduce the Arizona water supply and Nevada.Que gap could close next year - tank moved from October 2009 to 2010 - 10 feet but there are measures in place which would be likely to delay rationing for one or two years or pleased if a wet winter increased runoff into the River.

Most homes and likely Arizona businesses feel not the direct effects of these restrictions, which would first divert water from farmers.

But conservation groups say low levels that reservoir emphasize the risk to the Colorado River.

"Everyone needs to know when turn us on the tap, it flows the river water and it has environmental consequences," said Gary Wockner, campaign coordinator for save a group of education non-profit based in Fort Collins, Colorado, Colorado, "we must try to conserve water in the river and keep living.

Lake Mead, created during the construction of the Hoover Dam has decreased steadily in the last decade, in part due to unrelenting drought which began to reduce the flow of the Colorado 2000.Le tank stores in Arizona, Nevada, California and the Mexico river water.

Three States, bass River in Colorado, New-Mexico, Utah and Wyoming on the upper river, approved a plan of drought in 2007 that uses the Lake Mead water levels to trigger incremental rationing, part of an attempt to avoid the widespread shortage.

The first trigger is San feet above the level of the tank reaches altitude mer.Le 1,083.18 feet around noon, Sunday and was by Monday afternoon .the 1,083 feet low previous level was 1,083.19 feet set in 1956.

The reservoir was last so low as he was filling for the first time after blocked dam of the river flow and water began to accumulate upstream.

In the 2007 plan, the first trigger would reduce water deliveries in Arizona by slightly more than 11 percent, or would measure 320,000 and Nevada by about 4% or 13,000 mesurerait.Des further reductions would occur if the Lake has continued to fall.

An acre is 325,851 gallons, sufficient for two families a year.

Arizona loss all them may be deducted from the allocation of central Arizona is the Phoenix and Tucson.Arizona absorbs most of the losses within a period of drought, because rights over water in the canal CAP has a priority lower than most other rights on the lower Colorado River project.

The 2007 drought plan included measures which retard rationing in transferring water from Lake Powell downstream in Lake Mead, raising water levels above the drought triggers.
