Goodyear officials recommended reluctantly relaxing sign temporary restrictions to help firms with an economic slowdown.

Commission zoning and planning of Goodyear voted 4-2 on Wednesday to approve a proposal that modifies some temporary sign restrictions and allows digital canopies in the city.

The proposal would allow changes to rules sign for a period of 24 months:

-Grand-opening signs for 45 days from the current 30.

-Special promotion signs for 15 days from the current 10.

-For the signs of a frame in front of a building to 10 feet in the door and 3 feet of the building.

-For digital signage.

Changes have been considerably modified earlier proposals that called for 60 days for signs of large-aperture and 20 days for panels publicitaires.Propositions earlier recommended personnel an indefinite extension period, but the Commissioners disagree.

"If the driving force of opportunities business difficult periods, I would be in favour of a two years (limit)," said Commissioner Robert Williams.

Still, several members expressed reservations on additional signage in Goodyear.

Companies supported this signage and advertising are critical to the development of clients, but it is made difficult because of the rules of the city.

Empty commercial lots and low visibility locations in addition to the frustration.

Many business owners complained that regulate the portable pontoons, banners signs and signs of wind-sailing city codes.

Temporary signs are now restricted to certain uses and periods of time and a permit to use $ 35 is required.

But Commissioners feared that violations would proliferate in less stringent rules and damage the appearance of the city.

Others said that a personal code enforcement office would be unable to manage an increasing workload.

"Everything that we, people will be profiter.Nous cannot apply what we déjà.Jamais, you make a rule, you cannot apply,", said Commissioner Leslie Miller, who voted dissenting.

City Council should consider the sign Ordinance changes on November 15, said Joe Schmitz, Goodyear Planning Manager.

If it is approved the change would be effective 30 days after the adoption of the Ordinance said Schmitz.
